Xbox Cloud Gaming will be on Meta Quest 2 while Meta acquires Iron Man VR and Resident Evil 4 VR studios
There’s no release date for Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Quest 2 yet. As for the Meta Quest Pro, the VR device will be released on October 25.
Meta has just revealed a handful of VR titles that will arrive on their upcoming Meta Quest 2 device. Announced during the Meta Connect 2022 on Monday, Xbox Cloud Gaming will officially arrive at the Virtual Reality headset for gamers to take advantage of. Meta has also acquired several studios behind VR games like Iron Man VR, Resident Evil VR and more. Quest 2 will be released this month on October 25. Here’s the latest on Meta Quest 2:
Xbox Game Pass on Meta Quest 2
Satya Nadella, CEO of Meta, announced during the Meta Connect 2022 livestream that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available on the VR device. “Xbox Cloud Gaming enables you to stream hundreds of high-quality games to a range of devices—and that will include Meta Quest 2 in the future,” said Meta in an announcement blog.
“When Xbox Cloud Gaming launches on the Meta Quest Store, you’ll be able to hook up an Xbox controller to your headset and play console games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on a massive 2D screen, like having a private movie theater available at all times”, Meta added.
There’s no release date for Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Quest 2 yet. We do have a release date for Meta Quest Pro. The new VR device will be released on October 25, starting at $1499. Among Us VR release date was also revealed and it will be released for Meta Quest 2 on November 10.
Meta acquires Iron Man VR and Resident Evil 4 VR studios
Meta also announced that they have acquired three studios, namely Camouflaj, Armature Studio and Twisted Pixel.
Camouflaj, based in Seattle, is a game development studio founded by former Metal Gear Solid producer and Halo creative director Ryan Payton. They’re behind games like Iron Man VR and Republique. Speaking of Iron Man VR, it was released in July 2020 for PlayStation VR and will now be coming to Quest 2 on November 3 this year.
Armature Studio is based out of Texas and has games like Resident Evil 4 VR and Ark: Genesis Part 1 in its impressive portfolio. They’ve also worked on projects from franchises like Batman: Arkham, Injustice, Borderlands, and Metal Gear Solid. Armature has also been part of the development at Fortnite.
Speaking about these studios, Meta said, “It’ll be a while before we can reveal what they’re working on, but we’re excited to continue working with and supporting these developers as they bring ambitious and forward-thinking games to VR."
