Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope story trailer
The new trailer combines both cutscenes and gameplay, threaded together with a narrative that explains what’s happening in the crossover world of Mario + Rabbids. Mario, Luigi, Peach and other Rabbids were seen in the trailer alongside some new Rabbid allies too. We also got to see Bowser in the trailer and we already know about the DLC which includes Rayman as a playable character.
All “the galaxy's greatest heroes” will be looking to save the world from Cursa, the new enemy. Cursa is a dark entity that seeks and consumes energy to destroy worlds. It is looking to consume the energy of all the Sparks, who are creatures formed out of Lumas and Rabbids. It’s up to Mario and co to stop Cursa as they team up with Rabbids once again. Players will be traveling to different worlds in their bid to stop Cursa from achieving its evil goals.
Gameplay changes
As for the gameplay, we already that character progression will be different in this sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. There will also be no multiplayer this time with the focus shifting to a single-player gameplay experience. There will also be free movement in this instalment as compared to the grid-based levels from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. There will be a mixture of turn-based tactics and real-time gameplay in this title. Players have to take advantage of various abilities and powers offered by the Sparks. They’ll also have to pick smartly as each Spark has its own unique power and personality.
Nintendo confirmed the release date during Nintendo Direct mini after a leak from Ubisoft Brazil Store revealed the date. The store had the game listed for release on the aforementioned date. While Nintendo is very much the owner of Mario and related IPs, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is technically a Ubisoft title. Ubisoft has developed and published both titles in this crossover series and they’ll both exclusively be for the Nintendo Switch.
