Epic Games removes Fortnite's Shockwave Hammer after community backlash

Epic Games has finally removed the Shockwave Hammer from Fortnite a lot of concern and criticism from the community. This particular weapon was glitching and allowed players to infinitely bounce around the map while dealing damage to opponents. This made the weapon extremely overpowered and unfair. Shockwave Hammer has been finally pulled off after weeks of calling out the issue and Epic Games for their lack of action.

Shockwave Hammer removed

Fortnite maker Epic Games announced that the Shockwave Hammer has been “temporarily disabled due to an issue” and that the weapon will return to the game. However, the timeline of its removal and the eventual return has not been mentioned by Epic Games. The company did say that their “intent is to re-enable the Shockwave Hammer in the next game update” but it is dependent on “when this issue has been resolved.”

Gamers of Fortnite are vocal about their concerns (as they should be) and have been asking for action from Epic Games ever since the weapon was added in Chapter 4. This weapon’s glitch has been exploited since then with several clips circulating online with players on the receiving end being visibly frustrated with the glitch and Epic Games.

Redditors pondered that Epic Games was probably not removing the weapon because it’s required for certain weekly challenges. Fortnite is usually quicker than this when it comes to patching up issues and removing unfair content. Recently, the Deku Smash item from My Hero Academia was removed but Epic Games did not state a reason for doing so.
