Endgame's assemble scene had a lot more going in the BTS than one would anticipate
Believe it or not, the epic Avengers: Endgame portal scene that had us all on the edge of our seats might not have had the most glamorous start behind the scenes.
As the grand finale to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first major saga, Avengers: Endgame had quite the task ahead. It had to follow up the intense action of Infinity War and make sure that even the less central films, like Captain Marvel, found their place in the massive storyline. With sky-high fan expectations, it had to hit the ball out of the park - and boy, did it deliver!
Upon its release, Endgame not only wowed critics and fans alike but also shattered box office records, setting a new standard for epic two-part finales. What a ride it was, living through the Avengers' journey to save the universe!
That portal scene, talk about a showstopper! It's easily a top contender for the best scene in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Picture this: all our beloved heroes stepping out onto the battlefield in a jaw-dropping cinematic spectacle that left fans cheering in their seats.
But guess what? This masterpiece wasn't a walk in the park from the get-go. According to Marvel's VFX supervisor Dan Deleeuw, there were quite a few twists and turns along the way. In an interview with ComicBook, he spilled the beans, mentioning that there were different ideas floating around during the initial stages. There was even a version with a long panning shot across all the actors during a mega-expensive, all-hands-on-deck day of shooting. However, it seems it didn't quite hit the mark they were aiming for.
This level of care and attention to detail truly sets Avengers: Endgame apart from the rest of the MCU projects. Even after the impressive debut of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which had some believing it could dethrone Avengers: Endgame, the latter's unique magic remains untouched. The emotional journey carefully crafted by the team clearly struck a chord with fans, solidifying its place as a fan-favourite cinematic experience in the Marvel universe.
No doubt, that epic moment in Avengers: Endgame was a real labor of love, taking loads of planning and more than a few attempts to nail. The crazy excitement and grandeur it brought to the table set the bar seriously high for everything that came after, making it hard for later MCU stuff to measure up for lots of fans.
Now, if Jonathan Majors can get through his current hurdles, there's a chance his character Kang could be the ultimate MCU bad guy, even giving Thanos a run for his money. It could be just the thing to jazz up the Marvel world, which some say has been losing its spark lately. And hey, with Majors already showing up in some big-time flicks and Disney Plus shows, it looks like they're really putting in the work to make Kang a major player. Here's hoping it all comes together in the best way possible!
