Apex Legends Season 16 Revelry's gameplay trailer has just dropped, featuring the all-new class system overhaul that's coming. There will be five new Legend classes from Season 16 onwards and each of these classes offers perks to Legends. The new Apex Legends Legends classes are Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller and Support.
New Legends class system
Devan McGuire, lead Legends designer for Respawn Entertainment, shed light on the upcoming character classes during a recent press showcase for Season 16, which India Today Gaming attended. McGuire explained that an overhaul for the character class system was needed since the old system didn't offer much to the players and there have been several newer Legends that don't necessarily belong in those categories.
Here is the Apex Legends remastered class system along with the Legends in these new categories:
Assault
- Ash
- Revenant
- Mad Maggie
- Bangalore
- Fuse
Skirmisher
- Horizon
- Mirage
- Pathfinder
- Wraith
- Octane
- Valkyrie
Recon
- Vantage
- Bloodhound
- Seer
- Crypto
Controller
- Caustic
- Wattson
- Catalyst
- Rampart
Support
- Gibraltar
- Loba
- Lifeline
- Newcastle
Remastered Legends class perks
As mentioned before, each Legend class offers unique perks to all the Legends that belong to that class. Here are all the categories with the perks offered by them.
Assault
Assault category will allow Legends in that category to store extra ammo per slot in their inventory. Furthermore, there will be new red supply bins now available in Apex Legends which will have an extended supply section, similar to the blue bins for Lifeline. These red supply bins will offer extra weapon attachments as loot when opened by an Assault class Legend.
Skirmisher
Skirmisher Legends can spot the highest-value item in an incoming crate. Devan McGuire explained that this will allow teams with Skirmisher Legends in them to "snag a valuable, powerful weapon" or "ambush a squad that's going after it".
To help Skirmishers accomplish the latter objective, they can "keep track" to see when that high-value item has been taken by an opponent squad.
Recon
Recon characters will be able to see nearby enemy squads for 30 seconds now when they use the Survey beacon. Earlier, they were able to see the next ring location but that ability has now been replaced with the new one.
Similar to how Crypto's POI worked, enemy teams that have been scanned will be notified about being scanned by a recon character.
Controller
The ability to see the next ring location has been granted to Controller legends instead. There will be a new interactive item on the map called the ring console, similar to the survey beacon. It will allow Controller legends to see the location of the next ring.
Support
Support Legends now have the ability to craft banners of their fallen teammates through the replicator (at the cost of 30 craft materials), even if their banners have expired.
Support characters will get access to the extended blue supply bin and it will now feature healing and support items only. Earlier it used to have random loot for Lifeline.
Red and blue extended supply bins
McGuire also mentioned for both Assault and Support Legends that the loot accessed by them through the red and blue extended supply bins will dynamically adapt to the game. There will be better-quality loot items in the bins in the later stages of a match. As for the blue bins, he said that it also has a "smart system that will help you get the survival item you need in particular situations."
