Marvel’s Rivals Hawkeye Overview: Skills, Playstyle, All You Need to Know

Marvel’s Rivals introduces fan-favorite Hawkeye as a sniper with high damage and unique abilities.

With days left for its global release Marvel’s Rivals has added a Fan-favorite character Hawkeye to an already ever-expanding roster of characters to be chosen to play the game. Hawkeye is making his appearance in the game with his trusty bow from his days as the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. & his katanas from his days as the rogue assassin Ronin.

In Marvel Rivals, he is taking up the role of a sniper instead of his rather nimble and acrobatic representation from the comics. The play style of the character makes him a mid-movement speed character with the highest base damage from the whole roster.

Marvel Rivals Hawkeye Skills

Basic Attack: Hawkeye’s attack pattern is very similar to Widowmaker from Overwatch.  His basic way of attacking the character is a charged shot. The player holds the attack button to charge the shot and it's indicated by a shrinking circle on the crosshairs. When it is fully charged, the bow lights up with purple lighting to help the player identify it is ready to be fired at the desired target. The player also has the option to release the arrow halfway through the charge for reduced damage.

Along with this charged attack, he has two other attacks to deal damage to the enemies:

  • Double-charged attack: The player has the option to hold the attack button for a second charge meter to be charged to deal even greater damage. A fully double-charged attack from Hawkeye can kill the opponents in one shot. But the fast pace of the game, various characters with their powers, and the closed nature of the maps will make this challenging
  • Triple shot attack: this is his second attack mode where he fires three arrows that deal splash damage. But to fire all three arrows the player has to charge the shot to full power.
  • Passive Skill: Along with this, Hawkeye has a passive skill Hunter’s Focus which makes him not flinched by enemy attacks. Flinching makes aiming difficult so this will always give Hawkeye players an edge. Along with this, he can deal melee attacks to the enemies that are within attack range of Hawkeye. Thus, it will not make him vulnerable in a close-range battle. The players can use the melee attack to deflect oncoming projectiles too. Much like Genji from Overwatch, Hawkeye has a double jump making up for his lack of movement speed, and escapes from near-death situations.

In the ultimate attack, when activated, the player can see after images of the enemies on his screen, and attacking them will deal damage directly to the enemies. Additionally, the charging mechanic of the basic attack is disabled while the ultimate is active, enabling rapid successive attacks that deal significant damage.

Playstyle Suggestions

The players have to approach playing him as a sniper where the player should have deep knowledge and understanding of how each map and its terrain works to make well well-placed shots and escape when found themselves in a pickle. When used correctly with these skills the player can use Hawkeye to make one-hit kills that coupled with his ultimate make him a deadly character.
