GSC Game World, the developers of the award-winning survival horror FPS STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, have released an update for the third time within just two days. Patch 1.1.2 also promises to be the final bug fixes and additional new features meant to address some significant problems reported by members of the community.
Patch 1.1.2: What’s New?
Released on December 20, patch 1.1.2 focuses on resolving pressing issues while adding a major quality-of-life feature for PC players:
- Shader Compilation Fix: Resolves issues causing infinite wait times or crashes during shader compilation.
- Save File Loading Fix: This fixes crashes and problems encountered when loading saved files.
- Exit Game Crash Fix: Addresses crashes occurring while exiting the game.
- Back-Up Save System: PC players can now benefit from automatic save backups, stored for up to four days.
A Week of Intensive Updates
This update follows two major patches released on December 19. Patch 1.1 introduced over 1,800 bug fixes, performance optimizations, and balance tweaks. Later the same day, patch 1.1.1 resolved crashing issues reported by players after the initial update.
These improvements come as GSC Game World aims to address launch woes that plagued the title, including various bugs, AI inconsistencies, and optimization concerns.
Success Amid Challenges
Despite the rocky start, STALKER 2 has been a commercial success. Selling over 1 million copies within 48 hours of release, the game turned a profit for GSC Game World within its first month. Players are lauding the developers' swift response to feedback, a factor that has helped maintain the game's momentum.

While PC users now enjoy the convenience of saving backups, Xbox Series X/S players are left waiting for a similar feature. GSC Game World has yet to announce if this functionality will expand to consoles.
