How to Use Mods in Wuthering Waves; A Detailed Step-by-step Guide

If you’re itching to shake things up and tweak your Wuthering Waves experience, modding is the way to go. Below, you’ll find the ins and outs of how to plug mods into the game. Buckle up—it’s simpler than you think.

How to Mod in Wuthering Waves

Step 1 - Downloading Mods

• Visit the GameBanana website . Here, you will be able to find many different mods for Wuthering Waves.Download and Save the mod in a folder.

Step 2: Install XXM Installer

• Next, you'll also want the XXM Installer, the software responsible for managing and installing your mods. Once on their page, download the .exe file and run it. To install, you want to choose "Quick Installation" when requested.

Step 3: Configuring Game Folder

• Now that you've installed the game, you need to configure the installer to be used in your game. How do you do that? Open Wuthering Waves from your PC. Right click on the icon of the game and then open "File Location" from there to determine the location of the game folder.
• For this example, D:/Games/CoreGames/WutheringWaves/.Now go back into the XXM Installer and navigate through to the settings, click "Change" and point it toward your Wuthering Waves game folder. Once selected, you are good to proceed with starting the modding process.

Step 4: Placing Mods in the Mods Folder

• Now, with everything set up, you need to put your downloaded mods into the game's mods folder: Open up the XXM Installer and click on the button to open up the mods folder. If the mod you download does not have a folder with it, create an empty folder for your mod. Add the downloaded mod files in to that folder.

Step 5: Fixing Bugs (If Mods Act Dumb)

• Some mods might act stupid. It happens. If they do, you’ll need the Mod Fix Tool. Go to the Wuthering Waves Discord (yeah, I know, another website) and find the 3DM FAQ section. Download the tool, toss it in your mods folder, and run it whenever you add a new mod. This keeps things from going all glitchy

Step 6: Playing the Game

• Now that all that's set up you're good to go and play the game. Open up XXM Installer and click "Start". If you do run into issues, such as not recognizing the game folder, just check your XXM Installer settings so that you've chosen the right folder. Now, open the game, and if everything was done without a hitch, you ought to see your brand new mod in action. 

If something is wrong- like the game folder was not recognized- then, in the settings of XXM Installer, make sure that the right folder is selected.
Then, after you have started the game, if everything was completed correctly, you should be able to see your new mod.
