Brawl Stars Officially Removes Spike from the game; Here’s Why He’s Unavailable and What’s Next

Find out why Spike is temporarily removed from Brawl Stars, what’s up with the Demonfire modifier and more.

If you've been firing up Brawl Stars lately and wondering where our prickly buddy Spike disappeared to, you're not alone. Spike, one of the coolest legendary brawlers in the game, has been pulled out temporarily. But don’t worry – it’s not permanent, and it’s all part of keeping the game fair and balanced. Here’s the scoop on why Spike got benched, what’s happening with other game features, and what’s next for your favorite cactus brawler.

Why Was Spike Removed?

The decision to temporarily disable Spike stems from a major bug involving the popular character’s interaction with the Demonic modifier, a part of the Angels vs Demons season event. This modifier inadvertently created a loophole that allowed Spike to heal indefinitely. By pairing Spike’s Fertilizer star power with the Demonfire effect, the bug caused Spike to automatically heal from any damage he received, effectively making him invincible.

Under normal circumstances, the Fertilizer star power enables Spike to heal while standing within the area affected by his super ability. However, due to the bug, this ability extended beyond the super, causing Spike to heal continuously when standing on the trail of Demonfire he left behind. This unintended effect turned Spike into an overpowered brawler, disrupting gameplay and rendering him unbeatable in battle.

Temporary Game Changes and the Future of Spike

The bug with Spike isn’t the only issue Supercell’s tackling. The current “Angels vs. Demons” event features some unique gameplay tweaks, including the Demonfire modifier. It’s designed to make certain game modes, like Heist and Spirit Wars, extra spicy with burn effects and healing mechanics.

But it turns out, Demonfire is just a little too powerful. Besides Spike’s healing exploit, players found a way to use Mico to do insane damage in Heist mode. Mico’s super move could deal massive damage to enemy safes just by hopping on them repeatedly – not exactly balanced gameplay! To keep things fair, Supercell decided to temporarily remove the “Angels and Demons” modifiers in Heist and Spirit Wars, along with pulling Spirit Wars out of the current event lineup.

Planned Updates to Demonfire and Future Maintenance Rollouts

As part of their bug-fixing process, Supercell is planning to modify the Demonfire modifier to prevent similar issues in the future. The update will adjust the amount of damage that Demonfire can deal to structures in game modes like Heist and Spirit Wars, aiming to maintain game balance while still offering exciting gameplay with the Angels vs Demons mechanics.

Supercell has indicated that they are exploring a new maintenance update system to allow for more seamless fixes in the future. Rather than shutting down the entire game to address issues, this new approach would allow them to push updates incrementally, starting with specific servers. This change is intended to limit disruptions for players and ensure that Brawl Stars remains accessible even during bug fixes.

Compensation for Players and What’s Next

To make up for Spike’s temporary removal and the limitations placed on game modes, Supercell has announced a compensation plan for players. Once the maintenance update is fully deployed, all players will receive three Angelic and three Demonic drops free of charge. This gesture aims to thank the community for its patience and ensure that the transition back to a bug-free game is smooth.

For fans of Spike, there’s good news—Supercell has confirmed that Spike will return as soon as the bug is resolved. The development team is working hard to fix the issue and has expressed appreciation for the Brawl Stars community’s understanding and feedback.

While Spike’s temporary removal is disappointing for his fans, Supercell’s prompt response and clear communication have helped maintain player trust. The steps they’re taking to resolve the issue and improve the game’s maintenance system demonstrate a commitment to quality gameplay. As Supercell continues to fine-tune Brawl Stars, fans can look forward to more updates and improvements that keep the game engaging and enjoyable for all.
