Tokyo Game Show 2022: Major announcements on Resident Evil Village DLC, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza spin-off and more
The Tokyo Game Show 2022 showcased games from multiple publishers including Xbox, who introduced titles making their way to Xbox Game Pass like Deathloop and AC Odyssey. Here's more from other publishers like Sega, Capcom, and more at TGS 22.
Tokyo Game Show 2022 had plenty to offer when it comes to game announcements and updates. Several publishers held their own showcases as part of the Tokyo Game Show to reveal their current and future projects. New games like Unholy, Dragon Ball: Breakers, One Piece Odyssey and more were announced during Tokyo Game Show. Deathloop, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and other games were announced to arrive on the Game Pass by Xbox. Here’s a look at all the major announcements by various publishers during Tokyo Game Show 2022.
Xbox
Microsoft announced during their showcase that Deathloop will be available on the Xbox Game Pass starting September 20. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch; Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Anniversary Edition; Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey; and Fuga: Melodies of Steel are all now available on the Xbox Game Pass as well.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and some games from the Persona series will also be added soon to the Game Pass when they release. Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4 and the newest character in this upcoming game was announced. Kiriko will be the latest Support hero for Overwatch 2.
Palworld, a multi-player open-world survival game from PocketPair, will be soon available on Xbox, as announced during the showcase. The game features magical creatures called “Pal” which can be caught and trained to fight, build, and work in factories in this crafting game. Forza Horizon is set to complete its 10th Anniversary in October and the game will be receiving a major update on October 11.
Bandai Namco Entertainment
Bandai Namco announced One Piece Odyssey during their showcase and this JRPG will be arriving in January 2023. Dragon Ball: The Breakers was also shown off as this new asymmetrical multiplayer game will be making its way to open beta testing on September 21. A trailer revealed during Tokyo Game Show that Majin Buu will be a playable character when the game is released on October 14.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will finally be coming to next-gen consoles along with all of its previously released DLCs. There’s another DLC coming that will feature Bardock, who is the father of Goku, the main protagonist in Dragon Ball franchise.
Capcom
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will be receiving a new update, as announced by Capcom to kick off their Tokyo Game Show event. New monsters including Violet Mizutsune and Risen Chameleons. Mizutsune deals fire damage whereas the Risen Chameleons is a new Elder Dragon variation.
A story trailer for Exoprimal was released which explained the backdrop for this game. Two new exosuits, Murasame and Skywave, were released. Murasame is a tank class whereas Skywave is a new support class with flying abilities.
Resident Evil Village DLC will be featuring a mercenaries mode and new playable characters including Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu. The Shadows of Rose DLC will serve as the epilogue to Resident Evil’s central plot. It will feature Rose as the main protagonist who will be using her new-found abilities.
Capcom has also revealed that Resident Evil 4 remake will be made for PS4 as well. The game was already heading to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, this remake will not be available for Xbox One.
Their presentation also featured the upcoming Street Fighter 6 as new characters were announced. The entire list of playable characters as well as the upcoming World Tour game mode were put on display at Capcom’s showcase at Tokyo Game Show. Street Fighter 6 closed beta will be taking place from October 7 to 10.
505 Games
505 Games announced two new games during their showcase. Unholy, a first-person psychological horror game, will be releasing next year. Edengate: The Edge of Life is releasing this coming October from Hook.
Sega
Sega showcased Sonic Frontier’s gameplay during the Tokyo Game Show 2022. Their new trailer also showed Super Sonic in action.
Yakuza’s spin-off received its official title as Like a Dragon: Ishin was announced. It was also revealed that the upcoming game will not be featuring English dubbing. The Yakuza series has always been called Like a Dragon in Japan and now the global name for the franchise will now be the same starting with Like a Dragon: Ishin.
