The new Demon Slayer game is definitely something that needs to be given a fair shot
The upcoming Demon Slayer game takes on being a digital board game and is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch. It has a lot of similarities to the Mario Party series and is slated for release in 2024.
Do we have any Demon Slayer fans out here? Of course, we do, who can just turn a blind eye to amazing Tanjiro or our charming little Nezuko. The latest game, which is based on the very famous Demon Slayer franchise takes a surprising toodaloo from the usual action-adventure gameplay seen in the 2021 release. It has a Mario Party-style format, a pretty huge stand out from what fans might have expected. While many fans likely wanted to see another action-packed adventure, this fresh approach introduces an entirely new dimension to the gaming experience.
Demon Slayer is a pretty popular manga series, and its popularity only grew with its anime adaptation (if you haven’t given it a watch, you MUST). It's been nearly two years since the release of the last Demon Slayer title too.
This game is can be played by 1 to 4 players (so bring your squad in!), with the main characters like Tanjiro Kamado and his friends embarking on a quest to chase the Magical Sword, which somewhat resembles the task of collecting stars in Mario Party games.
Interestingly, the announcement of this game came after the popularity of the Demon Slayer fighting tournament. As a result, some fans may have been anticipating the reveal of a sequel like The Hinokami Chronicles 2 rather than a Mario Party-style board game. The departure from the traditional action-adventure format was indeed unexpected.
The announcement trailer for the Demon Slayer game showcases characters from the series navigating a game board, rolling dice, and participating in various mini-games. These mini-games include confronting familiar enemies from the manga, tackling obstacle courses, drawing, playing memory games, and more.
Players earn points by excelling in these activities and aim to defeat other players. The game's visual style is reminiscent of the drawing style seen in the Demon Slayer anime.
It introduces diversity to the Demon Slayer IP and, from what is shown in the trailer, appears to be an engaging game to play with family and friends, akin to other party games published by Nintendo.
By offering a new dimension to the Demon Slayer universe, this game expands the franchise's appeal beyond its conventional gaming experiences. It demonstrates the adaptability of the Demon Slayer brand to various gaming styles, ensuring that fans can continue to immerse themselves in the captivating world of Demon Slayer in fresh and novel ways.
