Netflix is diving deeper into developing shows about the gaming world as it just announced its partnership with the card game Exploding Kittens. Netflix is set to produce an animated comedy series on Exploding Kittens. Netflix will also launch Exploding Kittens as a game within the Netflix app.
The mobile game based on the card game will be “an exclusive version” and would be made available for free on the Netflix app for those with a subscription to the OTT platform. Netflix stated that “an exclusive version of the beloved mobile game will launch on Netflix in May.”

Exploding Kitten already has a mobile game available on Google Play for Android users and on the App Store for iOS users. The Netflix mobile game version would feature two exclusive cards while the studio plans on releasing more cards based on their animated series. The current mobile game available in stores is a paid game unlike the upcoming free title from Netflix.
Exploding Kittens Inc., the developer of the game, has no intention of pulling the existing game from the stores, as told by Netflix spokesperson Tawni Argent to The Verge.
There will be no progress transfer between the two games meaning players who bought Exploding Kittens in their stores will not find their progress, saves or expansion packs in the Netflix game.

Netflix also announced the executive producers and main cast for their series. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are the executive producers for the animated series who are known for working on the King of the Hill animated series. Creators of Exploding Kittens card game, Elan Lee and Matthew Inman will also be executive producers of the show.
Tom Ellis, Abraham Lim, Lucy Liu, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch, and Sasheer Zamata were announced as the main cast by Netflix on their Twitter account. The Netflix animated comedy series will be launched in 2023, as per the announcement.
