FIFA 23 World Cup: All features, game modes, special FUT items, promos and more revealed
There will only be two new stadiums added for this upcoming World Cup in Qatar, as compared to all 12 official stadiums added for World Cup in FIFA 18.
EA has just revealed what the upcoming FIFA 23 World Cup update will offer players. Releasing on November 9, the World Cup mode will be available for all platforms except Nintendo Switch. FIFA Mobile will also receive the FIFA World Cup update on November 8. EA will also be releasing FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 mode as part of the World Cup content update. Here's every feature, game mode, themed item and more coming in FIFA 23 for this World Cup.
FIFA 23 World Cup game modes
FIFA 23 World Cup update will arrive with several kick-off and tournament game mode updates including two new stadiums, the official match ball and more. Players will get to choose any of the 32 national teams who have qualified for the World Cup in Qatar.
There are custom tournaments as well allowing players to swap in teams that haven’t qualified for the World Cup. While it is more or less similar to older World Cup content updates in FIFA, there is a new mode called FIFA World Cup Live where players will get to participate against AI, locally against friends or against opponents online. They’ll be able to play matches based on the real-life proceedings of the World Cup. So, players can be engaged in the same games played during the World Cup. There’s also an option to compete online against players for World Cup’s knockout stages as well.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team will not have World Cup mode
FIFA Ultimate Team has featured a separate World Cup mode in FIFA 14 as well as FIFA 18. This year, the popular FUT World Cup mode will not be returning, as revealed by FUT Sheriff who is one of the most popular leakers of FIFA. FUT Sheriff has accurately leaked every promo card that has arrived in Ultimate Team for the past year.
Time Limited Players will be added to your account depending on the objs/sbcs you complete and will be REMOVED from your club after the “WC Season” (starting 11/11) is over.

All themed cards (Heroes, Stars, etc) are NOT limited and will continue at your club after you completed
The insider revealed, “There will be no World Cup mode INSIDE FUT. There will be special cards and themed content, like a promo, but no mode”. They added in a tweet, “We will receive TIME LIMITED cards from the players in World Cup and we will use them to do Objectives and SBC’s based on WC”.
The popular World Cup mode from previous FIFA games allowed players to build a separate squad just for the World Cup. The mode helped players earn better rewards while competing to win the World Cup.
Some World Cup players will be removed from a player's FUT club after the promo
The most interesting information given by Sheriff was that some of the World Cup-themed cards will be time-limited and they will be removed from a player’s club when the World Cup promo ends. Cards being removed from a player’s account after an event has almost never occurred in FIFA Ultimate Team’s history.

- Available from Nov 11th
- While in packs, will replace the Base Fut Hero version
- Some of them will be only available as Player SBC or OBJ 👀
- They are permanent#leak
The upcoming content update in FIFA 23 will feature the World Cup Hero cards and these cards will be permanent. The World Cup Hero cards are the result of a collaboration between Marvel and EA which saw football legends turned into superheroes through comic-book illustrations.
