Silent Hill 2 Remake: All Weapons & Locations, How To Find and Use Them

If you're ready to dive into Silent Hill 2 Remake, you'll eventually come across some powerful weapons as you progress through the game. The placement of these weapons is carefully spaced out, giving you time to master each one before the next arrives. If you’re curious about what’s waiting for you, here’s a rundown of all the weapons and where to find them.

Handgun – Room 217, Woodside Apartments

 

 

The Handgun is your first firearm, and you’ll find it in Room 217 at Woodside Apartments. A note in the reception area mentions gunshot noises, and sure enough, there’s a handgun in a grocery cart inside the room. Versatile and reliable, it deals decent damage, especially with headshots.

Wooden Plank – Your First Defense

 

 

The Wooden Plank is the first melee weapon you’ll get your hands on. James pulls this plank from a boarded window during a cutscene where he faces his first enemy in Silent Hill. While it may seem basic, it’s surprisingly durable and will stick with you until you reach the Woodside Apartments. It’s perfect for getting the hang of enemy attack patterns and won’t break, no matter how many monsters you beat with it.

Steel Pipe – Katz Street Cutscene

 

 

The Steel Pipe comes after you meet Maria and start heading to the “Special Place” she mentions. You’ll get ambushed by enemies on Katz Street, and in a cutscene, James uses the Wooden Plank to block a gate, then grabs a Steel Pipe from a nearby car. It’s a stronger melee option with better reach than the plank.

Shotgun – Brookhaven Hospital

 

 

You’ll pick up the Shotgun on the second floor of Brookhaven Hospital. After Maria asks why there’s a gun locker in a hospital, you’ll eventually find the shotgun in the Women’s Locker Room on the second floor. It’s a powerhouse of a weapon, dealing huge damage with each shot and becoming a favorite for clearing out tougher enemies.

Hunting Rifle – Toluca Prison Armory

 

 

In Toluca Prison, you’ll find the Hunting Rifle in the Armory behind a weapon cabinet. To get here, you’ll go through the Silent Hill Historical Society, down a long staircase, and through some challenging sections. Once you arrive at the prison, the first stop is the Armory, where you’ll find the Hunting Rifle and a map. It’s devastating at long range, and headshots can often one-shot minor enemies.

Chainsaw – New Game+ Special Weapon

 

 

To unlock the Chainsaw, you’ll need to complete the game and start a New Game+. Early in the game, after you talk to Angela, you’ll spot the Chainsaw lodged in a log near Silent Hill Ranch. It’s a beast of a melee weapon, capable of tearing through enemies with ease and even taking down some foes with a single swipe.
