Two additional teams received direct invitations, bringing the total to 10 teams. The playoffs employed a Best-of-three format and a double-elimination bracket, leading to the qualification of the top 4 teams for the Grand Finals. This culminating event was to be held as a LAN gathering in Delhi, promising an electrifying atmosphere with a live audience. The Pokémon UNITE India Open 2023, presented by Skyesports, stands out as the largest esports spectacle for the game to date. Boasting a hefty prize pool of INR 10 Lakhs, it brought together grassroots-level qualifiers and culminated in a standalone on-ground extravaganza at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in Delhi.
THIS is where we came in, as the India Today Gaming team got the opportunity to witness the finals here in Delhi. So, in the Pokemon Unite India Open 2023 showdown, we've got Team True Gravity and Forge Your Legacy rocking it in the Upper Bracket Finals, battling it out for that prime spot in the Grand Finals. The winner here takes the express route to the big dance, while the runner-up still has a shot at redemption.
Down in the Lower Bracket Semi-Finals, FS Esports and Team Griffin threw down. The victor of this clash snags a ticket to challenge the runner-up from the Upper Bracket Finals, keeping their dreams alive. Unfortunately, the team that falls short in this lower bracket round will be packing their pokeballs and heading home. It's all in good fun and games, but the stakes were high. Finally, after a power packed battle of 4 matches, Team True Gravity stuck to their word and claimed the first place, bagging a hefty amount of INR 4 Lakhs.
But that's not all, as the event also got the audience engaged in the matches (obviously) and a super fun giveway at the end. With 40 selected raffle ticket numbers, the fellow trainers got cute little Pokemon keychains followed by 3 lucky winners got the offical Pokemon Unite uniform and finally- 1 SUPER lucky trainer who got their hands on an adorable plushie. Safe to say, the event was equally enjoyed by children, youngsters and kids alike!
Fantastic news! The victorious quartet of True Gravity, Forge Your Legacy, FS Esports and Team Griffin will now advance to the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League India Playoffs. Their prowess will be put to the ultimate test, and the top-performing teams will earn the honor of representing India at a prestigious international offline event.
