A report has just made its way to the internet hinting at a return of PUBG Mobile in India. The report in question talks about the work that PUBG Corp is doing to bring the game back. This development comes two months after the government of India banned the game on privacy concerns. In addition, we also noted the announcements where the developers shut down access to Indian users. However, the rumblings of a return for the game are not new as we have seen several reports crop-up online. Let’s check out the details around the latest report hinting at PUBG Mobile come back here.
PUBG Mobile rumored to come back, details
According to a report from TechCrunch, “two sources familiar with the matter” hinted at the return. The report also noted that PUBG Corp has “privately informed some high-profile streamers” about the return. This report went ahead to state that the game could be back before the end of the year. It is also worth noting that PUBG Corp has not issued a statement in response to the report. PUBG Corp “could make” the announcement revealing details about the future plans “as soon as this week”. The company is also expected to run marketing campaigns around the game during Diwali next week.
As previously noted, several reports have hinted at several back-room conversations to bring back PUBG Mobile through a partnership. PUBG Corp has approached several major names including Airtel, Reliance Jio, Paytm, and more to take charge of publishing. Before the ban, Tencent was in charge of publishing and distributing the game in the Indian market. The report notes that PUBG Corp cut ties with Tencent after the ban. To address privacy concerns, the company had already moved all the data of Indian users to local servers within the country.
The return of PUBG Mobile to the market will also likely raise eyebrows amongst the developers behind more than 200 banned Chinese apps. These developers are likely to question the reinstatement of the game while attempting to get their app back in the mix. However, this move seems extremely difficult considering the bureaucracy and politics involved in making the decision. It would also make things difficult for companies trying to capitalize on the PUBG Mobile ban including nCore Games with FAUG.
