PUBG Corp just registered PUBG India Pvt. Ltd., its Indian subsidiary with the government of India. Here is the latest information about PUBG Mobile, its India subsidiary, and rumors around a significant prize-pool.
PUBG Corp seems to be working behind the scenes with full force in its efforts to bring back PUBG Mobile. As part of its work to bring its popular Battle Royale title back to India, the company just took a significant step. According to the latest information available online, the company just registered PUBG India Pvt. Ltd., its Indian subsidiary. This move comes just weeks after it formally announced its plans to bring back PUBG Mobile with significant financial investment. The company also revealed that it will launch a special version of the game to target India with significant changes. As per our previous report, PUBG Corp is calling this version, “PUBG Mobile India”. Here is the latest information around PUBG Mobile including the subsidiary and rumors around a significant prize-pool.
PUBG India Pvt. Ltd registered, details
According to a report from AFKGaming, PUBG Corp registered the official India subsidiary with the Government of India. PUBG India Pvt. Ltd. registration was done with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on November 21, 2020. Digging into details, PUBG Corp has named Kumar Krishnan Iyer and Hyunil Sohn as the directors of the subsidiary. For some context, Hyunil Sohn is also the Head of Corporate Development for Krafton, the parent company of PUBG Corp. This also means that PUBG India will likely be the hub for everything PUBG Mobile-related in the Indian market. Looking back, Krafton also plans to make an investment worth $100 million in the country across multiple industries. These industries include gaming, eSports, entertainment, and IT.
Registration is part of the formal process that the company needs to follow to expand its presence in India. The move comes weeks after the initial reports highlighting PUBG Mobile India recruitment posts on LinkedIn. The subsidiary will also likely help Krafton navigate a path to formal permission for a relaunch. This is because, in spite of the relaunch announcement, PUBG Corp has not received a green light from the government.
PUBG Mobile tournament Rs 6 Crore prize-pool rumors
Beyond the information about registration, another set of reports surfaced on the internet hinting to highlight some information about an unannounced PUBG Mobile India tournament. After inspecting the information, it looks like PUBG Corp may be planning to announce an eSports tournament with Rs 6 Crore as the prize pool for winners. Popular PUBG Mobile eSports player Ghatak from team TMS Entity hinted at this information on his Twitter account. In addition, he also stated that this prize money means that an “average Tier 1 esports player” will get about Rs 40,000.
The report also stated that this Rs 6 Crore figure could indicate “a new prize pool” exceeding Rs 15 Crore for the tournament. If the hints are anywhere close to the reality then it would make the unannounced tournament, the largest in the world. We are not sure if Ghatak was talking about the PUBG Mobile India tournament or generally discussing the state of eSports tournaments. However, we do know that the hints are in line with a recent statement from the Director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports, James Yang about the massive prize pool in 2021.
