The announcement regarding the award comes just weeks after the game one another significant award in India. As previously reported, WCC 3 also got the “Google Play Best of 2020 award” in the Users’ Choice category. It also won the AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge award in a competition conducted by the Government earlier this year. CEO and Co-founder of Next Wave Multimedia, P.R Rajendran also issued a statement after the latest award. The statement noted, “It is absolutely thrilling to win another title. The team has put a lot of hard work and innovation behind the game and this award comes as a hattrick for us at WCC.”
Rajendran went on to state, “This is a validation of all our effort. We look forward to continuing to provide value to our fans and the industry at large.” We also outlined the mainstream success that the WCC franchise has received this year. Most of this success and popularity likely came due to the void that the COVID-19 lockdown left regarding cricket. As a result, the WCC franchise got “more than 22 million downloads” between the time period of February 2020 and August 2020.
Overall, the WCC franchise has crossed the 143 million download mark across the globe. Beyond such staggering download numbers, the smartphone game also reported a growth of “more than 100%” in the in-game purchases from February to November 2020. In the meantime, Next Wave Multimedia is working to bring new features and additions to the game.
