AMD has just launched the refreshed version of its Ryzen 5000 series of desktop processors in the market. This refreshed lineup of processors will feature the new AMD 3D V-Cache technology, drastically increasing the total amount of cache. As part of the launch, the company launched new versions across its Ryzen 7, 5, and 3 lineups. The semiconductor giant also shared key details about the new processors including the price and availability. Other aspects include the architecture, base and boost frequency, total cache, PCIe support, and the inclusion of the CPU cooler. The company launched six new processors with 3D V-Cache technology, bringing the total number to seven. New AMD Ryzen 5000 and 4000 series desktop processors announced: specifications, price, details
The six new desktop processors join the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D that was first announced at CES 2022. However, as part of the CES keynote, AMD did not share information on the general availability of the processor. Now, the company has finally shared the pricing and sale information for the 5800X3D as part of the complete refresh. Interested buyers can get the Ryzen 7 5800X3D starting from April 20 for a starting price of $449. The company has not shared the pricing of any of the processors announced today for the Indian market yet.
Now, let’s talk about the rest of the lineup that is set to land in the market on April 20 in the Ryzen 7, 5, and 3 series. The list of processors includes Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600, Ryzen 5 5500, Ryzen 5 4600G, Ryzen 5 4500, and Ryzen 3 4100. Ryzen 5000 series processors in this list will feature Zen 3 architecture while 4000 series will come with Zen 2 architecture. Glancing at the pricing details, it looks like AMD wants to compete with the 12th-gen Intel processors for desktop. The company wants to ensure that it has price competitive products till the time Zen 4 launches.
AMD stated that it is not offering support for manual overclocking for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. It clarified that this limitation is a one-off and it will fix this by the next generation. AMD executive Robert Hallock also confirmed that the 3D V-Cache does not benefit regular tasks outside gaming. The company also announced that 'it is extending support for Ryzen 5000 series processors on AMD 300 series chipsets'. This means that AMD X370, B350, and A320 chipset motherboard owners can run all AMD Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors with the help of 'Selective BETA BIOS updates'. These updates are expected to roll out in April 2022. It is worth noting that AMD first showcased the 3D V-Cache technology at its' Computex keynote in May 2021.
