An established supplier of parts appears to hint at the release timeframe of a gaming console, possibly alluding to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Reports suggest that a major manufacturer of image sensors, who has been a long-time supplier to Nintendo, has hinted at the release window for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. This aligns with recent rumors that Nintendo has shifted their focus to develop the Switch 2 after the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is said to be the last major exclusive game for the current system.
Despite its popularity, the Switch was never known for its power and, as it ages, many have been hoping for a follow-up console to address its limitations. It is believed that Tears of the Kingdom played it safe with the Switch's hardware, further highlighting the need for an updated system.
New hints surround Nintendo Switch 2 game:
According to sources close to PixArt Imaging, a Taiwanese CMOS image sensor manufacturer, a new game console from one of their long-time customers is expected to launch in early 2024. Chinese media outlet MoneyDJ reports that it may be a successor to the popular Switch, and given that PixArt Imaging has been supplying components to Nintendo since 2006, it is possible that they are the ones behind the upcoming hardware.
In fact, there have been rumors that PixArt Imaging manufactured the IR camera in the right Joy-Con even before the Switch was announced. It seems like PixArt Imaging is expecting a new Japanese game console to launch in early 2024, which aligns with other rumors about the Switch 2.
A report from May suggested that the release window for Nintendo's new console would be in spring 2024 at the earliest. If both rumors are true, it's possible that the Switch 2 will be released in late March, as there's little overlap between "early 2024" and "spring 2024."
When Nintendo Switch 2 is going to release?
Typically, console manufacturers have released new hardware during the holiday season, but the Switch was released in March 2017. It wouldn't be surprising if the Switch 2 followed a similar timeline, being released around the seventh anniversary of its predecessor.
There have been other recent hints that Nintendo is working on new gaming hardware. In July, a leaked Microsoft document also mentioned the upcoming release of the Switch 2 in 2024..
