The Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is gearing up to be one of the most significant events in the gaming industry this year, boasting a whopping $60 million prize pool. With a diverse lineup of popular esports titles, teams and players from across the globe are set to vie for their share of the riches.
However, amidst the excitement, the event hasn't escaped controversy. The host country's laws and practices, along with ethical concerns, have sparked scrutiny. Despite this, the buzz and excitement of the record-breaking prize pool will most CERTAINLY draw competitors, even if viewers opt to sit this one out. The Esports World Cup is set to showcase a diverse array of 19 esports titles, including some major players in the gaming world. Among them, you'll find five battle royale titles, three first-person shooters, four MOBAs, and a sprinkling of sports and fighting games to round out the lineup.
The Esports World Cup will feature a variety of competitive titles, including popular games like Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and League of Legends. Battle royale enthusiasts can look forward to Apex Legends, Fortnite, and PUBG, while fans of mobile gaming will see titles like Garena Free Fire and Mobile Legends Bang Bang on the roster.
Additionally, MOBAs like Honor of Kings and Teamfight Tactics, as well as fighting games such as Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, will also be part of the lineup.
The Esports World Cup has already attracted the attention of several prominent organizations, with teams like M80, Complexity Gaming, G2 Esports, and Cloud9 confirmed to participate in various qualifiers. While the full list of participating organizations is yet to be announced, the event is scheduled to run from Thursday, July 4 to Saturday, Aug. 24.
