It’s been a while since we saw something new from Hideo Kojima. His last hit, which continues to enthrall fans to this date was Death Stranding which launched back in 2019. Regardless, fans continue to wonder what his next will be, and Kojima too does his part of tickling our curiosity. He comes in and drops in cryptic messages at events here and there, and gaming enthusiasts next go into a frenzy for weeks. With speculations galore, here’s everything we have been able to gather on Kojima’s next project. 

Death Stranding 2 in development, cast and other rumors

It started with a brand new website, teasing with a silhouette of a girl, with the words, “Who am I”. At PAX Australia earlier this year in September, the silhouette was discovered to be that of Elle Fanning. Therefore, irrespective of what the next game is, we know for sure that it features Elle Fanning.

Earlier this Kojima himself appeared at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase to reveal that he’s working with Xbox for Microsoft Cloud.  As for the game, speculation is rife that Death Stranding 2 is coming. It all started earlier this year in May, when Death Stranding actor Norman Reedus, kind of let it slip that they’ve started filming the second game. Soon fans spotted that Reedus was following Elle Fanning on Instagram, though they haven’t worked on anything together up until now.

And now, the latest, and probable teases, involve Kojima himself again. This time, it gets better for us Indians. Recently, sometime back in last week, Kojima shared photographs of S. S Rajamouli visiting KJP. Rajamouli, who is considered a figure to be reckoned with when it comes to VFX in India, can be seen in a 3D scanner in the pictures. Along came the words, “I have scanned. . . . RRR. (sic)". Rajamouli was visiting Japan to promote his magnum opus RRR featuring NTR Jr, and Ram Charan. Earlier this year, Kojima was found to be all praises about the movie, calling it a “must-watch”. So what’s with this display of mutual admiration? Does it all hint at another collaborator of Kojima’s?
Kojima has now posted another picture from his Twitter handle, leaving fans now wondering if this new game will be a PlayStation Exclusive. In this picture, Hideo Kojima is posing with PlayStation boss Jim Ryan. While this may ultimately mean nothing, regardless, leakers and one from Sony in particular (via GameRant) are suggesting that the upcoming project is in fact Death Stranding 2. 

While some of the biggest windows for reveals are approaching, with various award shows like The Game Awards and BAFTA knocking at our doors, we’ll have to wait for more solid updates on Kojima’s next. Till then, leaks and rumors are all we have.
