COD 2023: Get ready for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone's latest installment with leaked release dates and all the exciting details. Find out what's in store for the next Call of Duty game.
The leaks for COD 2023 have begun pouring in rapidly, marking the stage of the yearly cycle when players eagerly anticipate the upcoming title. This article presents all known details regarding the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, rumoured to go by the name Modern Warfare 3.
When Modern Warfare 2 (2022) was initially launched, speculation and rumours circulated regarding its release cycle. Many suggested that this installment would break tradition by adopting a two-year cycle, potentially skipping a new game in 2023.
That rumour, however, began to fade as the year progressed as news of a sizable MW II expansion and, more recently, a fully-fledged premium game, which leaks strongly suggest will be called Modern Warfare III and developed by Sledgehammer Games, began to circulate.
Here is everything we currently know about the 2023 COD game, including all the major leaks that have surfaced, even though official details are still scant.
When will Modern Warfare 3 be released?
Tom Henderson's initial reports state that Modern Warfare 3 will debut on November 10th, 2023.
This falls within the typical window for Call of Duty releases, but obviously, things can change. But it seems like we can at least lock in November right now.
The Federal Judge confirmed a November target for Call of Duty 2023 as the FTC vs. Microsoft court hearing came to an end in June 2023. Even so, Activision chimed in shortly after the information went viral, even though nothing is yet official.
Who is behind Modern Warfare 3's creation?
Sledgehammer Games is reportedly creating Modern Warfare 3, giving Treyarch the full three years they anticipated to release the COD game in 2024.
This implies that Sledgehammer, who also created Call of Duty: Vanguard in 2021, will only have a two-year break.
If accurate, it's unclear exactly why SHG was chosen to take the lead on the game's development; however, as with all current Call of Duty games, Infinity Ward and Treyarch will provide support.
And what about Warzone?
Apparently, Modern Warfare 3 will also bring a completely new map to Warzone, as was mentioned in the initial leaks.
They claim that Las Almas, the setting from Modern Warfare 2's campaign, will appear on the BR's new large-scale map, which is expected to debut in December 2023 with the start of Season 1.
Features of Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer
Modern Warfare 3 will offer an experience more similar to that of earlier games, according to reports that first appeared on July 17. This hypothesis is supported by leaked screenshots that are thought to be from a Call of Duty Alpha build from this year.
A traditional Perk system and the return of Red Dots on the minimap are two significant features that help with this. When using unsuppressed weapons, enemy players will appear on the minimap, and Perks won't need to be earned as the game goes on.
The four categories for MW3's Perks are Helmet, Vest, Gloves, and Boots. Which Perks you have access to will depend on the Gear you use. Although the presentation might be different, if the reports are true, this should operate similarly to the Perk system found in the majority of Call of Duty entries.
Fans have reason to be happy about Ninja's anticipated comeback. After being absent from Modern Warfare 2, it is anticipated that the iconic Perk that muffles or even completely silences footsteps will return.
Zombies in Modern Warfare 3
There will reportedly be a zombies mode in MW3, but it has been given the name "Outbreak 2.0," a nod to the Zombies mode from the 2020 Black Ops Cold War installment of the franchise.
Apparently, it has not yet been decided whether this will be a free-to-play addition or a component of the premium offering.
Major dates for Modern Warfare 3
These are the key dates according to the original leak:
- Beta weekend 1 (PS4/PS5) – October 6, 2023 – October 10, 2023
- Beta weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – October 12, 2023 – October 16, 2023

- Full Release (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – November 10, 2023

Take the information above with a grain of salt for the time being while we wait for official confirmation from Activision or any of the development studios, as none of the aforementioned has been confirmed.
