Call of Duty’s upcoming seasonal content will be featuring a plethora of new content. The much-talked-about DMZ mode will be making its way to Warzone, new multiplayer maps, a Special Ops mission, first ever three-player Raid and a football-themed event will be awaiting players. Modern Warfare 2’s first season will be live when Warzone 2.0 gets launched on November 16 at 11:30pm IST/ 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.
Warzone 2.0 map
Warzone 2.0 will hit the streets with the city of Al Mazrah serving as the launch map. Al Mazrah of the United Republic of Adal will have 18 points of interest. Al Bagra Fortress, Sariff Bay, Embassy, Zarqwa Hydroelectric, Taraq, and Sai’d are subsections of Al Mazrah, so Call of Duty multiplayer players will encounter familiarity when dropping into Al Mazrah.
New Gulag in Warzone 2.0
Gulag is one of the most interesting aspects of Warzone and it naturally returns for the sequel but with an added twist. The new Gulag will feature 2v2 combat where random players will pair up and try to win their back to their squad in the battle royale. There’s a second chance in store if the players of opposing teams decide to pair up and kill the strong AI jailer.
New gameplay features
Warzone 2 has added new gameplay mechanics including aquatic combat and a vehicle fuel system. Vehicles no longer have unlimited fuel and hence, they’ll need to be refilled. Players can do so by picking up gas cans on the map or at gas stations. There’s also going to be a Heavy Chopper introduced which has the ability to hover in the air without a pilot. A new electric GMC Hummer EV pickup truck will also be added to Warzone 2.
Players can only use sidearms and melee weapons when submerged. They can also throw knives and use other throwing equipment. Players can now use the waterways to travel via boats or swimming. Warzone 2 will also introduce third-person playlists in Season 1.
Warzone 2 DMZ mode
Activision Blizzard showed off their DMZ mode as they invited several streamers to test out the mode on Wednesday. DMZ is essentially an extraction mode where squads have to take on AI as well as other players while they try and complete objectives to earn rewards. Players have to pick up loot, get a hold of Strongholds and complete “faction-based missions” and survive to get exfiltrated.
Messi, Neymar and Pogba coming to Call of Duty
Modern Warfare’s first season will be introducing four new weapons and players can get two of them for free by completing battle pass tiers. There will also be six new operators coming including football legend Lionel Messi. His teammate Neymar Jr. will also be a playable operator alongside Paul Pogba.
They will be available as part of the Modern Warfare FC event. This event will feature a limited-time CODBall game mode and a “a community Support Your Team Pick’em minigame”. Messi, Neymar and Pogba will be available for use in Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty Mobile.
Warzone servers will be down for 12 days
Call of Duty Warzone servers will be going offline for 12 days, right when Warzone 2.0 launches. Developer Raven Software says the servers will be back on November 28, meaning players of Warzone will not be able to play the game until then. This decision has been made to focus on maintaining full functionality and to keep things stable when Warzone 2.0 launches globally.
Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 will be released on November 16 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
