Discover Vyse's abilities and playstyle in Valorant. Learn how to utilize her Shear, Arc Rose, and Steel Garden ultimate for aggressive plays and post-plant scenarios.
Vyse is one of the most exciting agents added to Valorant, with a sleek design and an intriguing set of abilities that give her the flexibility to be aggressive despite being classified as a Sentinel. While her core role is about defense,
Vyse also brings a touch of Initiator gameplay into the mix, making her a versatile and impactful agent in many scenarios.
Using Vyse’s Abilities
-
Shear (Wall): This ability allows you to isolate enemies or set up plays for your team. It works great both defensively and offensively. You can block off lines of sight or force opponents into unfavorable positions. For added impact, combine Shear with abilities like Brimstone's Orbital Strike or Sova's Hunter's Fury to catch and eliminate enemies who are caught off guard.
-
Arc Rose (Flash): After setting up with Shear, you can use Arc Rose to flash your opponents, giving you a perfect opportunity to secure some easy kills. This ability makes Vyse quite dangerous when pushing aggressively or when defending in post-plant situations.
Ultimate: Steel Garden
Vyse’s ultimate, Steel Garden, works best when used tactically rather than impulsively. To maximize its effectiveness, try to catch as many enemies as possible within its radius. For defense, use it during retake situations where the enemy is already committed to a site. On attack, Steel Garden is ideal for entering sites and forcing enemies into tough positions.
However, avoid wasting your ultimate on anti-eco rounds, where the enemy is already at a disadvantage. Instead, consider using it on your own eco rounds to level the playing field. If you manage to get kills, it can provide an opportunity to upgrade your weapons.

Post-Plant Play and Utility Usage
Vyse excels in post-plant situations, where her abilities can shine. Her wall can displace defusers, buying precious seconds for your team. Timing is key here—throwing Razorvines after hearing the spike tap, paired with other abilities like mollies or grenades, can make it nearly impossible for the enemy to defuse without taking heavy damage.
Playstyle and Team Coordination
While Vyse brings a lot of utility to the table, she doesn’t quite replace Sentinels like for holding flanks. Her abilities are much more effective when used for aggressive pushes or post-plant plays. Higher-ranked or pro players might be able to get away without a dedicated flank-holding Sentinel, but in lower ranks, where team coordination isn’t as sharp, not having a reliable flank-watcher can be risky.
If you find yourself in a post-plant situation with no player disadvantage, Vyse’s abilities give you the upper hand in most scenarios, as long as you’ve conserved your utility properly. Play smart, and you’ll almost always come out on top.
