Season 13 of Overwatch 2 has arrived, and with it comes a bunch of changes to your favorite heroes. Blizzard dropped this update on October 15 at 2 PM EDT, bringing along the shiny new Widowmaker Mythic skin, the Halloween Terror event, and even a crossover with My Hero Academia. But let’s be real—the balance updates to the hero roster are what’s going to really shake things up. From Juno getting nerfed to Sombra’s major rework, here’s everything you need to know!
General Changes
Swapping Heroes: When you switch heroes, your pick will be hidden from the enemy scoreboard for 15 seconds.
Dev Comment: This makes counter-swapping a bit trickier, so don’t expect to outplay your opponent instantly by sitting in spawn and swapping back and forth.
Tank Changes
Mauga
Incendiary Chaingun: Burn duration increased from 3 to 4 seconds.
Dev Comment: A longer burn time means more payoff for hitting those hard-to-land shots on smaller enemies. Keep that chaingun firing!
Ramattra
Pummel: No longer pierces barriers, but deals 2.5x more damage to barriers.
Dev Comment: Ramattra is still a solid pick against barrier-heavy teams, but now he won’t be able to damage players hiding behind them quite as easily.
Reinhardt
Barrier Field: Health reduced from 1600 to 1500.
Dev Comment: Just a slight tweak to Reinhardt’s barrier to make it a bit more manageable for opponents to break through.
Damage Changes
Hanzo
Base Health: Increased from 225 to 250.
Dev Comment: Hanzo’s getting back some health, so those headshots won’t feel as punishing for him anymore.
Sojourn
Railgun: Energy no longer stops degenerating at 25, but you now get 12 seconds before it starts decaying.
Disruptor Shot: Damage increased from 60 to 80 per second, and now 25% of the damage it deals generates Railgun energy.
Dev Comment: These changes make Sojourn’s Railgun less stressful to use, while also turning Disruptor Shot into a stronger area control tool.
Sombra
Sombra’s getting a pretty big overhaul this season:
Hack: Doesn’t end Stealth anymore, but reveals Sombra for a brief moment. Hack duration reduced to 1 second (but EMP is unchanged).
Stealth: No longer passive, now activated by using Translocator. Stealth lasts 5 seconds, and taking damage reveals Sombra instead of breaking stealth.
Translocator: Cooldown increased from 5 to 7 seconds.
Opportunist: Passive returns, boosting Sombra’s damage by 20% against hacked targets and letting her see injured enemies through walls.
Dev Comment: Sombra is shifting from stealth-heavy utility to more offensive power. She’ll need to play a bit more carefully now, but the reward for getting into enemy lines will be much higher.
Support Changes
Baptiste
Biotic Launcher: Primary fire recoil reduced by 30%.
Dev Comment: Aiming to make Baptiste’s primary fire feel less tiring during long fights, without making it more powerful.
Brigitte
Repair Pack: Cooldown increased from 5 to 5.5 seconds.
Dev Comment: Just a slight nerf to reduce Brig’s healing output, since she’s been a bit too strong lately.
Juno
Mediblaster: Healing falloff range reduced from 30-50 meters to 20-35 meters. Healing per projectile reduced from 6.5 to 6.
Dev Comment: Juno’s healing was too powerful, especially combined with her mobility. The range reduction should force her to think more carefully about positioning.
And that’s all the hero changes for Overwatch 2 Season 13! Don’t forget to check out the new Battle Pass featuring a dark magic theme, and grab that Widowmaker Mythic skin. Happy gaming!
